I’m Erica Giljam. I am an architect, project manager and the owner of For Example. I love design in all shapes from buildings, both inside and out, down to products and fashion.
I started e.g. as a little side project, it was my creative outlet. It all started during the planning of my wedding, as more and more D.I.Y. elements were added. I loved every moment of it. From this starting point my interests slowly expanded and soon I was making felt mobiles for friends who were excitedly expecting babies.
For Example grew into its own when I realized that the South African market lacked beautiful customizable felt mobiles. I wanted to create a place where anyone could go and pick out a unique mobile to entertain and amaze young children and adults alike.

The Mobiles:
I have a number of set mobile themes available in 2 colour options, boys (blues and greens) and girls (pinks and purples). However you are most welcome to choose any colour, as long as I can find felt in the colour. If you can’t find what you are looking for in my set themes and have a very specific mobile theme in mind, you are more than welcome to mix and match any of the pieces that I have available.
The mobile pieces are made from felt and stuffing. Each piece is cut, sewed, stuffed and hung with love. The pieces are sewn together by sewing machine, however I do offer a hand sewn should you wish (All the details are on the bottom of the order forms on my website). All the faces of the pieces are sewn by hand. The pieces are then hung from metal or wooden rods. They are put together to be as delicate as possible so that only the slightest air movement will get the mobiles to ‘dance’ and move.
