The secret to starting the week well is to recuperate and recharge over the weekend! When we enjoy our weekend we are ready on Monday morning feeling refreshed, less resentful and focused.
Five Things to Set Yourself Up for a Productive Week Ahead
Leave Work in the Office
Leave work in the office and dont take it home with you on Friday night. It will still be there to do on Monday and sometimes when we step away from the work we get to see that it is not as urgent as we think it is.
If there are issues to resolve “sleeping on it” and thinking about it over the weeeknd can sometimes produce astonishing results.
Catch Up On Sleep
Make sure that you take naps over the weekend. The optimal amount of sleep for energy is 7 to 8 hours.
Not getting enough sleep can cause us to feel sluggish and not ready to face the day.
Do Something Fun
Take time for yourself whether it be reading a book, bungi jumping or cycling but whatever you do, do it with purpose and intent.
Spend time with family and friends even if it is just relaxing and having coffee.
Set Goals For The Week Ahead
Set goals for the week ahead. Set goals for both your personal and professional life. Plan your work and work your plan.
While recharging is the point of weekends, you will set up your week for success by creating a plan, says Bandes. “What will you accomplish this week that will move you toward your personal and professional goals?” she asks. “Without a great plan, it is easy to get overwhelmed and fall into reaction mode instead of being proactive with your time.”’
Tune out of work on the weekend so that you can tune in on Monday morning.
Set aside time on Sunday afternoon to plan your week ahead.
Think long terms thoughts but short term leisure. We are able to be creative when we are exercising or having fun.
