At the Lizelle Gouws Hearing and Speech Centre you can receive the following services:

· Hearing screening – a quick test to identify if there is a possible hearing loss present or not at specific frequencies. This is a free service.

· Diagnostic hearing tests – an in-depth test to determine your current hearing ability, possible causes and prognoses in terms of a temporary or permanent hearing loss. Tests include: pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, speech audiometry and otoscopy (examination of the ear canal and eardrum) .

· Hearing aid fitting – we supply a number of different hearing aid makes which includes: Signia Siemens Hearing Systems, Oticon, Unitron, Starkey, Widex, Beltone and Phonak. Personal lifestyle requirements and preferences are taken into consideration when selecting a specific hearing aid to treat your hearing loss. The instruments are then ordered and set according to your personal hearing ability via programming on the software on a computer to treat your hearing loss. The model of hearing aid depends on your hearing loss configuration, degree of loss and size preference. We supply from the smallest in the ear hearing aids to the behind the ear hearing aids. Rechargeable options are available as well.

· Tinnitus treatment – when associated with hearing loss, tinnitus are treated with hearing aids that have treatment programs available. We also supply Bio Armor’s Hearing Health capsules which has an 85% success rate in decreasing tinnitus.

· Speech-, and language assessment - tests are done to determine age appropriate functioning of language and speech abilities for children and also adults with acquired speech and language difficulties.

· Speech-, and language therapy – therapy is provided to improve speech and/or language abilities.
