Tough times, big brands, and tonnes of generosity

The one thing that spread as quickly as the recent fires, was the generosity of South Africans. Be it big brands or individuals – as a country we rallied together to assist those in need during the recent fires in the Eastern Cape.

Partnering for good, Kimberly-Clark (K-C), Mango Airlines, and BidAir Cargo moved some much needed essentials to those who had been affected by the fires. This included 320 packs of BabySoft® Toilet Tissue (9 pack) and 300 packs of Huggies® Nappy Pants. Kimberly-Clark has been making lives better by upholding authenticity, accountability, innovation and care.

Since its launch in October 2006, Mango Airlines has strived to be innovative with a key focus area of operational efficiency at all times. A value that they could put into action demonstrating a quick turnaround time of cargo between OR Tambo and Port Elizabeth airport.

The generous donation took place this week with an official handover to The Missionvale Care Centre which has a special place in the hearts of this community. What stands out about this Centre is that it has a primary school with about 231 students from Grade R to Grade 7 in the mornings and adult-based education in the evenings. It is a Centre that continually upskills the community. Each partner played a pivotal role in the administration of the handover. With Kimberly-Clark offering the products, Mango Airlines provided transport for all goods to Port Elizabeth, Bid Air Cargo handled the freight and ground goods at OR Tambo and Port Elizabeth and Toray Logistics offered transportation of goods from the PE Airport to the Missionvale Care Centre.

This initiative has been heartfelt by many. It has brought strangers together and woven love in their hearts. It is evident that South Arica still has ambassadors of goodwill who are always willing to assist.
