They are Planning, Perseverance and Patience.
Planning
To have any kind of success in business you need to have all three of these and you cant have one without the other as they go hand in hand.
We have all heard the saying plan your work and work your plan and this is never more true than if you are an entrepreneur. You have to plan your work and then work your plan. The hard part of course is sticking to this but if you persevere then you will see that it does work. For some reason if you give yourself a deadline and stick to it then you will see that you actually accomplish more than you expected to and probably in less time.
Perseverance
Perseverance is the trait that an entrepreneur has to have. This is the tenacity to not give up and to see something through to the end no matter how tough it gets. “When the going gets tough, the tough get going”
In a 1995 interview, Steve Jobs said, “I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance. It is so hard and you pour so much of your life into this thing, there are such rough moments in time that most people give up. And I don’t blame them, it’s really tough.”
Patience
Patience is truly a virtue especially in business.
Impatience is also a habit. When we are impatient then we get filled with frustration. Frustration drives the idea of quitting and then we are unable to work towards our business goal.
And here I thought one of the P’s would be for ‘Paul.’ 🙂
As an entrepreneur, we certainly do need all 3 of these. Sometimes, Patience seems to be so difficult for me in the sense that I want it now!
Thanks for sharing, Laura!
Well Paul you were the inspiration behind the article!
Planning, Perseverance, and Production. If we can produce and persevere according to our plan, then patience is less necessary. 🙂
Exactly Roy! Howerver having said that things have a way to not always go according to plan so in these cases we need patience.
For me, perseverance is the crucial one. I have a lot of it and I’ve seen so many times this is where people fail, not only in business but in anything.
This is a veru=y practical approach to avoid overwhelm in starting a business.
I’m like Paul, patience is the one I need to work on at times. Great blog post
