Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps to build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, and the development of a strong core or centre, while improving coordination and balance. Pilates allows different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from a beginners’ level to more advanced levels. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. It also helps to improve muscle tone, balance musculature, support correct posture, and will teach the practitioner to move with ease and grace.
