Charlene Mc Intosh Counselling Psychologist

I am a registered counselling psychologist  with a Masters in the Social Sciences from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (Cum Laude). In 2006 I completed an internship at the Child and Family Center in Pietermaritzburg. This year-long practical is a core component of psychologist training and afforded me the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of problems affecting individuals to problems in relationships, marriages and families. I also worked with children regarding trauma, learning problems and career choices.

I was the Head Psychologist at a remedial school for 8 years before entering private practice. During this time I have gain valuable experience in working with children with learning disabilities. During the last 8 years, I saw the value of working with the whole family in helping children develop and cope. Under my leadership the psychology department was development and services were extended to include adults, couples and families.

Psychotherapy is a process focused on helping you heal and learn more constructive ways to deal with the problems or issues within your life. While I draw from a psycho-dynamic background, therapy is tailored according to each client’s unique and specific concerns to enhance the healing and developmental process.
