Live2Thrive
As a young girl I was always active and preferred dancing to academics. I was a daydreamer at school. You could even argue live2thrive actually began 20 years ago when I realised there was absolutely not a chance I could do anything sitting for too long! But I listened to my loving parents and got a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting. I decided the moment I got my degree that I was going to pursue and earn an income from something I enjoyed and was passionate about and would impact others. I knew it was definitely not accounting.
I found the transition from high school to varsity very stressful and put myself under a lot of pressure as my family had moved continents to provide the best tertiary education for my brother and I. We moved from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to Perth in Australia. I struggled to cope and was diagnosed with depression as so many are today. Struggling to cope with mundane activities and feeling too tired to party like all my peers left me feeling very isolated. I always volunteered to be the driver to get out of drinking and so that I could leave when I wanted to.
It was during these years that I found Pilates and a passion for health and wellness. I was a ballet dancer from 4 until 22 years. Pilates was a natural regression from ballet and I took to it right away. I felt amazing after every class and became an instructor whilst still studying. I knew it was the right path for me. During that time I read a lot and associated with teachers and all in the health industry. I still do.
This period of my life lead to live2thrive which is ultimately about living a life of balance, one that recognizes the importance of movement, nutrition and mental health. Nothing is isolated it is all holistic and live2thrive is about connecting the dots through some of what I have to offer as an instructor in Pilates, Personal Training, Barre and Wellness coaching with what others have to offer too.
