This was the first book I bought when my reading journey begun. I have to admit, I had seen this book was a bestseller and bought it on that credit alone – please don’t judge me for literally judging it.
I love Jojo Moyes, I find her writing easy, simple and light hearted. I like the way it flows and that you can take her writing at face value even though of course it is complex.
The book Me Before You is a complete against the grain romance, in fact, it is not romantic at all but you can’t help but fall in love. I loved Louisa as a character, she is funny and quirky with a intense dress sense that I feel matches her inward personality.
The whole plot was a bit strange but you can’t blame a mother for the lengths she was willing to go to to change her son’s mind. I feel it was unfair to Louisa because she had no idea what she was in for and if given the choice she would not have volunteered herself to fall in love just to have her heart smashed. But then again, maybe she would, maybe humans are willing to love no matter what it costs them in the long run.
I enjoyed Will as a character and watching him grow and show us who is and who is with Louisa is even more special. The intensity of the unspoken is very real in this book. Be prepared to sob your eyes out and give yourself a mourning period when you are done.
A fantastic read even if you do not like romance novels. Worth the tears and gives you a little perspective.
