Oli+frank was started by Cape Town illustrator and surface designer Sandy Mitchell to create locally produced décor and accessories for children. Sandy has worked a freelance illustrator for about 15 years, illustrating for a wide variety of products and media, and has published 2 books. When given the opportunity to design wallpaper for a British Wallpaper company she became hooked on creating images for products and a love of surface design developed. This was further endorsed by 3 editor’s pick awards for fabric design by Minted, an Amercian online company.
The inspiration behind Oli+frank was to produce original, locally designed and manufactured products for South African children, but many Oli+frank designs have an appeal to all ages and some of the décor products work well in any room. Along with cushion covers and wallpaper Oli+frank products include greeting cards and pouches, which are ideal as pencil cases or goody bags. (They make great make-up bags for teens!)
At present oli+frank are only available from the online shop (http://oliandfrank.com) or by appointment in Observatory. This is recommendable if you want to view wallpaper or order fabric per meter. Installation of wallpaper can be arranged and bespoke orders will be considered for either fabric or wallpaper.
