Although I have been practising as an advocate and mediator for more than 12 years, following a career as a communications expert, OMEGA JUSTICE was conceived in 2018. The inability still of the public, especially members who do not have deep pockets, to access justice prompted its conception. It is incredibly important to understand that mediation aims at preserving future relationships and strives to mitigate destructive communication patterns exhibited by some disputing parties. The process of mediation should be cost effective, however having said that, keep in mind that cheap can be nasty. Mediation has a benefit over both judicial process and arbitration in terms of the cost implication. The cost savers in choosing mediation relate to savings in respect of high lawyers costs, overcoming all the many delays in getting matters heard in court, and the avoidance of technical issues associated by the civil procedural requirements in terms of the court rules which may lead to a tremendous increases in the costs associated with all sorts of interlocutory hearings. However, what is to me the most desirable effect of an effective mediation session, is the process’ ability to enable parties to create creative and very unique solutions in resolving their conflict. I am a proponent of collaborative mediation and co-mediation, since to me it makes sense for the parties to be assisted by mediation professionals and/or other subject related professionals in their endeavour to solve their problems, especially in complicated commercial matters. My field of expertise include, but is not limited to, medico-legal, veterinary, workplace, industrial relations, commercial and civil litigation and mediation.

When considering the credentials of a mediator, I suggest that parties should make sure that the mediator is accredited by a reputable organisation like the SOUTH AFRICAN ASSOCIATION OF MEDIATORS (SAAM). I personally chose to qualify myself to be accredited by various organisations to enable me to evaluate my own skills set. Currently I am accredited by SAAM, Conflict Dynamics and the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in the United Kingdom. I am also an executive member of the SAAM EXCO. Further, I shall soon be doing research for a Doctorate degree in Law, LLD. Omega Justice serves disputing parties, nationally and internationally. We travel far and near to facilitate dispute resolution.
