The Palette and Paintbrush is an educational art franchise that offers educational art classes. The franchise was founded by qualified preschool teacher and art therapist, Tilly Naransamy.

The creativity practised by children is dynamic, changing and fluid. Its greatest satisfaction is in the process and not the product. It is a state of “becoming”. It is also an intensely personal process since the creativity lies within the child.

Extensive research, spanning several years, guides how the programs are designed. Our programs include all materials and aspects of art, and range from the creative and abstract to the pure. The value of art classes and art therapy are often disregarded as hobbies or activities instead of the important development tool that they are. Art classes provide children with the opportunity to develop both creative abilities as well as analytical thinking. It also teaches learners entrepreneurial and creative skills. Our programs allow children to learn important life and social skills such as dealing with conflict, being tolerant as well as managing anger productively. It also contributes to improved concentration and development of motor skills. Each art class is designed to incorporate specific techniques and methods that enhances the abilities of the learner and improves the fine and gross motor skills as well as other life skills.

The Palette and Paintbrush believes that education is dynamic and constantly strives to ensure that their activities are kept both beneficial and fun. To ensure the highest standards in art therapy education are met, and often exceeded, all facilitators are chosen carefully and trained thoroughly to be able to facilitate the most creative art therapy programs in South Africa.
