Rhythm of Africa Day Spa

Rhythm of Africa Day Spa has its roots in a company called African Spa Products.  Unique and Innovative spa products were formulated, developed and manufactured by Cosmetic Chemist Jayshree Naidoo.  In September 2015, Jayshree saw a gap in the spa market and decided to restructure the business and form a day spa.  Rhythm of Africa Day Spa was born and showcased at the Durban Business Fair in October 2015 with much success.  Suitable business premises were sought and they started in humble beginnings in Morningside, Durban.  The current premises houses 1 treatment room and 1 outside treatment area.

In November 2015 the business welcomed aboard Shunba Naidoo who, with her many years of  experience in the banking environment brings support to the admin sector of the business.

Rhythm of  Africa Day Spa is a spa with a difference.  We embrace a Women Empowerment programme.  All our therapists come to us with some experience and knowledge of massage and beauty treatments.  However, due to financial difficulties they are unable to afford to pay for a formal qualification.    Jayshree, who also has a background in Therapeutic Aromatherapy and Therapeutic Reflexology,  provides more training for them.  Within a year, the company provides them with the opportunity to train and obtain a certificate in Massage or Beauty Therapy, at the company’s cost.  These are all women who come from single income households and they are responsible for supporting their families.

In March this year, we partnered with Groupon and have never looked back.  We are now looking to expand our business and provide more employment opportunities to more women.   Our short-term goal is to find bigger premises  with more treatment rooms, so that we can accommodate more customers.  We also have a retail side to our business, where we retail our own brand of  Designer Perfumes, Massage Candles, Massage Bars and Soaps.  The oils used for our treatments are a Unique blend formulated by Jayshree and is loved by all our customers.
