The Orchard Farm Stall

Upon entering the picturesque Elgin Valley when travelling along the N2, direction Hermanus, you’ll find The Orchard Farm Stall on the left, Grabouw side. The farm stall has in recent months, been an exciting revamp project which today pleasantly surprises many-a-old and new traveller alike who choose to stop and refresh. This signature landmark shouts “WELCOME!” and has once again become a great boost for the local economy, thanks to new co-owners Carol-Ann Snyman and her husband, Conrad, along with their fantastic team of motivated and friendly staff.

Carol-Ann’s feminine touch is subtle yet visible – from the beautiful Geraniums hanging from their colourful baskets at the entrance on the front stoep, through the wide variety of generously priced gifts littered throughout the stall, till the decadent icing on the almond tarts. There is shade parking for Africa with neat flower beds that lead one to the restrooms before entering the stall. The restrooms are noticeably clean and leave one feeling refreshed and ready for any adventure!

Being positioned in one of the largest fruit-growing regions of the Southern Hemisphere, with its extra special cool climate conditions, it is easy to understand how the shelves are always lined with all the fruitiest looking jams and preserves imaginable. One simply cannot escape the thought of scones served with sliced strawberry jam and cream. The on-site bakery works around the clock to deliver those “I’ll have one of each” baked goods, ranging from sweet and buttery cakes to meaty pies. Don’t forget the old-fashioned bacon and tomato quiches. Their tasty homemade biltong and droëwors will satisfy those with or without a sweet tooth and is often rated 5 out of 5 stars for taste as well as value for money.

The farm stall is fully equipped to handle all four seasons of the Cape in one day. The large open plan stall has a constant supply of fresh natural air flowing throughout, allowing one to browse and shop at ease. During the colder winter months, the glow from the central fireplace warms not only the stall, but your soul and keeps you cosy whilst the kiddies have a ball inside the indoor kiddies play area. On a sunny day, they get to enjoy free train rides around the large enclosed property whilst Mom and Dad enjoy a hearty farm-style breakfast coupled with pure Arabica coffee.

The newly opened Wine Shop boasts a good collection of local and regional wines – some of which have won several Guild Awards!

New Owners Carol-Ann and Conrad Snyman envisioned a new farm stall restored to its former glory, but with their own added personal touch. Aiming to please all who travel along the busy N2 highway with collectable gifts, fantastic food and friendly service! Judging from the current overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars via Google’s Visitor Review app, they certainly are managing to tick all the right boxes for their customers.
