The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation South Africa announces winners of the #strongtogether Celebrity Challenge

On 22 June 2020, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation South Africa Celebrity Ambassadors and their loyal supporters waited eagerly to find out who the winners of the #strongtogetherCelebrity Challenge would be. The social awareness initiative, launched by Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco, turned out to be hugely successful!

The initiative aimed to create awareness about COVID-19 and highlight the Foundation’s work in South Africa and around the world. Over the course of the Challenge, the Celebrity Ambassadors battled it out on social media to see who could garner the most support for the #strongtogether movement, their specific charity, and the Foundation. And their always-loyal fans and supporters were quite happy to help!

Through the #strongtogether Celebrity Challenge, these incredible South Africans brought awareness and hope to thousands of those in need working through 45 Charities all around South Africa to ultimately deliver 15,000 #strongtogether masks and sanitizers with a message of unity and solidarity.

Percy MontgomeryIn the end, it was a tight race and an extremely difficult decision considering the astounding efforts of everyone involved, however, we are pleased to announce our Celebrity Ambassador, Percy Montgomery, and runner up, Louis Oosthuizen.

Each of these Celebrity Ambassadors has an opportunity to elect winners as part of their campaign, and the raffle draw awarded additional tickets to the Monaco F1 Grand Prix in 2021 and a 4-night stay at the five-star Etali Safari Lodge in Madikwe.

“We would like to congratulate our winners and thank everyone who supported this initiative. There were so many highlights throughout the campaign and we appreciated how everyone came together to do good and get creative in using their reach and resources to fulfil the Foundations mission”, said Chantell Wittstock, Foundation Director in South Africa.

Percy Montgomery is an ex Springbok Rugby Player who was the first Rugby player to reach 100 test caps for South Africa. When he ended his international career in August 2008, he held the all-time records for both caps and points for South Africa’s national team, the Springboks.

“Montgomery had an incredibly successful campaign attracting local and international media attention and raised an incredible amount from his personal items which he put up on auction. He was a great ambassador who jumps in with great enthusiasm and really got involved in his community, and for that, he is our is awarded our record and is a deserved winner,” concluded Wittstock.
