What made you choose to be in the hospitality industry?
I’ve studied Electrical Engineering and worked in the Engineering Sector for 4 years. My partner and I was looking to make an investment in property. While looking around we came across this property which was a lodge before but very run down and in a terrible condition. Our entrepreneurial mindsets made it easy so we decided to go with this property as we have seen it’s potential. We bought this property January 2016, we started to do renovations and transformed it into what we call it today Aerotropolis Guest Lodge. Aerotropolis was open for business in May 2016, we’ve started off with 4 rooms and as we went along and made our name in the industry we added more rooms. We are currently standing on 10 rooms and are still in progress to add more. My vision is to buy more properties next to me and just keep on extending as Aerotropolis is growing more and more on a daily basis.
Do you enjoy it as much as you thought you would?
I enjoy challenges. This was totally out of my comfort zone and I’ve already learnt a lot out this journey. I’ll choose this all over again if I had to.
Do you meet many interesting and different people?
We meet a lot of different people from all over the world. It’s always interesting to hear about the different cultures and how the lifestyles of everyone from different countries differ.
What makes your guest house unique?
Our lodge caters for everyone and we do it in a modern African way. Whether you are here for business or just a layover from OR Tambo International, we have what it takes to make your stay memorable. We offer complimentary high speed wi-fi throughout the property which is an important aspect for all business guests and international guests. Our complimentary airport shuttle is available 24/7 for all our guests for transfers between OR Tambo International and Aerotropolis Guest Lodge.
What brings your guests back time and again?
Our friendly and helpful staff, our prompt service, cleanliness and neatness, the tasteful decorations in our modern african rooms, the relaxing african feeling you can experience while you are in the city.
Are you guests mainly from South Africa or overseas?
We get a bit of everything. We get a lot of international customers because of our proximity to and from OR Tambo International Airport.
Have you got a conference facility? If yes how many guests can you accommodate?
No we have not. We might have a look at it in the near future
Do you offer various guided tours etc?
Yes we do offer tours as well. We currently do Johannesburg, Soweto, Apartheid Museum, Lion & Safari Park, Cradle of Humankind etc. We also offer transfers all over South Africa such as the Kruger National Park etc. We are busy working on a Touring Company which is called Afrique Tours. Afrique Tours will do all the tours and transfers for Aerotropolis in the near future of which safari tours will also be included in our packages.
